I just binged the first season of the new adult cartoon, Inside Job from the studio that animated Final Space and the creative team behind Gravity Falls (with Alex Hirsch himself as producer).

This show about the shadow government that runs the world where every conspiracy is real, has some felt he most imaginative comedy and characters I’ve seen in a while.

Our main character, Reagan, is a socially inept scientist who ironically wants to make the world a better place for others. She’s like a fusion of Gwen from Camp Camp and Rick Sanchez; which is an apt comparison, because her relationship with her ex CEO Dad, Rand, is rather similar to Beth and Rick’s relationship as father and daughter (if you took away Rick’s genius and left him as just an alcoholic freeloader).

Other characters include Brett, Reagan’s yes-man partner in leading the organisation; Glenn Dolphman (played by John DiMaggi), a half man half dolphin super soldier; and my favourite character: Myc the Psychic Mushroom! Imagine Roger from American Dad mixed with Frank from Harley Quinn.

The hijinks the gang get into cover almost every conspiracy you can think of: lizard men, cryptids, chemtrails, aliens, the Illuminati, assassinations, mass hypnosis, clones, hollow earth. Every mad theory you wish you saw in Gravity Falls is here.

It’s amazing how many great shows and movies the team members from Gravity Falls have made since then (Amphibia, Owl House, Mitchell’s vs the Machines) and this one is definitely up there. If you’re a fan of shows like those check it out and get ready to question society and reality.

27 Years today.

1 min read

My 27th birthday and I’d say so far this year has been good to me.

  1. I have a new job at a local coffee house where they make their own cakes.

  2. My baking business plan is very close to completion. I just need a registered kitchen approved by my council to bake in and then I can start trading.

  3. And for this birthday, my brother is coming up to visit for the dinner my parents made for me: beef teriyaki and chocolate orange cake.

Thanks, 2021. You haven’t let me down so far.

This week I binged the entire first season of Demon Slayer on Netflix.

I can see why this series momentarily surpassed One Piece in manga sales XD

It’s like a combination of Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul and MHA.

My favourite character is a tie between Tanjiro and Nezuko. Not since the Elric Brothers have I seen such a magnificent sibling bond and similar goal in Tanjiro determined to help Nezuko get her humanity back (or in a sense her body back). Tanjiro’s selfless and kind nature is only be rivalled by Izuku and Nezuko is able to express so much emotion despite being muzzled all the time and her few lines of dialogue only being in thought.

Muzan is quickly becoming one of the worst (as in evil) villains yet. He has the immaturity and deadliness of Shigaraki; the cold superiority of Father; the disturbing manipulative nature of Orochimaru; and the cruelty of Medusa. He’s without doubt every definition a monster.

My favourite fight you’d think would be Tanjiro vs Rui; and it would’ve been if they didn’t ruin the ride when that epic beheading ended up being a fake out leaving it up to Giyu to finish the fight in one swing.

Because of that my favourite fight is Tanjiro vs Kyogai (the drum demon). He had to quite literally keep on his toes with the Inception style spinning room and invisible blades. And his sign of respect towards Kyogai’s former passions from when he was human was perfect as it continued to establish his habbit of acknowledging the demons’ former humanity, helping them find peace in death.

The animation...what can I say. The sword techniques are all worthy of being framed in galleries and remind me a little of Okami with their feudal aesthetic. It’s truly magnificent.

Overall, this series is worthy of its praise and I can’t wait to see the movie when its shown in the UK and after that I’ll pick up the manga from that point onward. Another addition to my library.

I just got back from seeing a rare screening of Wolfwalkers with my Uncle and his family. Due to it being made in Ireland the UK got to have a cinematic release of it despite it being and Apple TV exclusive (thank god).

And I have to say...IT WAS AMAZING!!! Tomm Moore has made another masterpiece for the third time in a row with his magnificent Irish fairytales.

The story is a beautiful tale of friendship, oppression and freedom.

The characters of Robyn, her father Bill and Mebh are well written and engaging throughout with plenty of personality and time dedicated to their arcs.

The animation is somehow even better than ever, which is saying a lot if you’ve seen Moore’s previous works. The best feature has to be the scenes where you see through the eyes of the wolves and how they sense the world around them.

There’s even a certain amount of suspense in a number of scenes so the pacing always adjusts to the right speed for the appropriate scenes.

Overall, this is another great addition to Ireland’s 2d animations and I can’t wait to see what Tomm Moore and Cartoon Saloon make next.

My only hope is that apple will allow the movie to get a dvd release or at the very least make it available on iTunes for purchase because I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!!

XfangheartX this one is definitely for you, Sis.
