The Six Feather Chronicles 4~ First Witch Mass: What is DWMA?

Ever since Logan had managed to get Arya to open up to him, the young mage had found that the rest of the Evergreen siblings as well as their parents had grown quite fond of him. Likely due to the fact that Arya herself had started to change for the better. Her cold hard shell that concealed her true self had been broken and she was starting to be more open and as Katherine had said ‘her old self again’. The little emotion witch had made quite the bond with Logan since the two them did have similarities. The two of them would often talk together during school break and whenever Logan came to visit they would play tag, which often resulted in the former cheating by sitting in a tree in one of his owl forms, though it was all in good fun.
Of course Arya wasn’t the only one Logan had grown closer to. Katherine and Jason had gained a lot of respect for Logan after his befriending of their little sister, the former of which feeling especially touched by his act. Even Yuki and Kakashi has grown closer to Logan over the past few weeks and the group of young mages had formed quite the posse often meeting under the big tree in the playground for various activities, be it listening to Logan’s music, Jason’s jokes or even playing with Suzaku who’d grown to trust every one of them. And of course Logan himself had benefited from all of it having gone from the anti-socialist egghead he was to a budding mage with five new friends (six if you include Suzaku) and his parents couldn’t be happier at his development. But soon would come a day when Logan would make a remarkable discovery that would come to play a big role in his life. And that day just happened to be today. The owl mage was currently in his room playing a calming melody on his ocarina when a knock sounded at the door.

“I’ve got it!” Jenny called from downstairs as she went to answer the door to find Katherine there. “Hello, Katherine. Good to see you, dear.” She greeted

“Hi, Mrs Owlfeather. Is Logan here?” Katherine asked.

“He’s in his room, sweetie. And please, call me Jenny.” Katherine smiled before she went up to her friends room and knocked.

“Logan. It’s me, Katherine. Can I come in?”

“Sure, come in.” Logan sounded from the other side as Katherine entered. “Hi, Katherine.”

“Hey. How are you?”

“Oh you know; music and studies. And hanging out with you guys when I’m not.” Logan grinned.

“Then…do you have any free time tonight.” Katherine smiled.

“Sure I can hang ou…wait, this isn’t a date is it?”

“NO! No of course not!” Katherine blushed waving her hands. “I-I was wondering if, you’d like to join me for my first witch mass.”

“Witch mass? Would I even be allowed there?” Logan asked.

“I know it’s primarily for witches, but male mages and wizards are allowed to attend if they want to. I thought you might find it interesting.” Logan rubbed his chin in thought before he smiled.

“Alright, I’m in.”

“Great! Me and my Mum will come pick you up at seven.” Katherine beamed before taking her leave.

“Witch mass huh?” Logan wondered. “It sure sounds interesting. I might even get to meet some powerful witches.”

XXX

Later that evening Katherine returned with her Mother, Francine to pick up Logan before the three of them made their way to the gathering location of the mass; a large dark castle just on the outside of town atop a rocky cape.

“Looks pretty spooky.” Logan commented as they landed at the entrance, Katherine and Francine having used brooms whilst he simply flew. “Are you sure I’ll be allowed in?” he asked, changing back.

“Don’t worry, Logan it’ll be no problem at all.” Francine reassured as she patted his shoulder before kneeling down to his ear as she whispered. “Just between us, Katherine’s feeling rather nervous as this is first mass so she wanted you to accompany her.”

“Me? Why me? Couldn’t she just ask Jason or Arya?”

“Maybe she likes you.” Katherine teased earning a small blush from Logan before they entered the cathedral. The area was lit by a few lamps hanging from the walls and the room was filled with witches garbed in various outfits that symbolised their magic theme as they quietly talked among themselves.

“Katherine.” The little girl looked to her mother. “See that group of girls over there about your age? New members are to gather there for induction.” Katherine looked at her a little nervous. “Don’t worry, I’ll be right here watching, and Logan will be there to keep you company. You’ll be fine.” Logan quickly turned his head to look at Francine who put her hands together in a pleading expression, when Katherine wasn’t looking. He sighed silently before offering Katherine his hand who giggled before they began to head over to the group, Francine mouthing ‘thank you’ to him as they did. Among the group of young witches the pair noticed some of them were from their class.

“Hey Kathy. Your first mass too?” asked a little newt witch named Emily.

“Yep.”

“Hold on. Is that Logan?” Emily asked.

“It is him. Why are you here? This is a witch mass. No boys allowed!” barked a squid witch called Misty.

“That’s not true! Wizards are allowed to come if they want to observe. I thought Logan might find the mass interesting so I invited him.” Katherine explained. Emily giggled.

“Or….maybe you wanted him to come because you like him.” Katherine blushed.

“Tha-That’s not it!” she defended.

“Then why are you blushing?” Misty grinned.

“Katherine has a boyfriend~!” the witches sang causing the pair of them to glow bright red. Logan was about to turn around when Katherine stopped him.

“Wait! They’re not being mean, Logan. They’re just having a laugh. Remember what Ary said about taking jokes?”

“It’s embarrassing. I don’t want the girls spreading rumours about me!” Logan argued.

“Please, Logan. The thing is I…I’m kinda nervous about this so…I wanted a friend to join me so I wouldn’t lose my cool. I’m sorry for being selfish but-”

“It’s ok. Your Mum already told me.”

“She did?! Oh~!” Katherine covered her glowing face in embarrassment while some of the girls giggled.

“It’s ok. I’ll stay, but only cause you’re my friend. You lot got that?! She’s not my girlfriend!”

“Whatever you say, Logan~.” Emily winked before the room went silence as the witches stopped talking and turned to face the end of the room where a large shrine like carving stood before a figure began to materialise out of thins air form the bottom up as they floated down towards the shrine, hovering a few feet above the ground. They were short in stature and heavily clothed in a dark ragged cloak and robe held together by several novelty sized safety pins. Atop their head was a large witch hat fashioned to look like a face with a sharp toothed grin and red eyes. And speaking of eyes, within the small gap between their hat and the top of their robe was a single red eye whilst the other was covered by a bandage with a ½ inscribed on it.

“Who is that?” Logan whispered.

“The Grand Witch and ruler of the realm: Maba.” Katherine identified as the Grand witch raised her arm sin greeting before she spoke in a low voice.

“Joma Joma Dabarasa. As Grand Witch I declare this mass open. Let us begin the induction for the newest members of our organisation.”

“Joma Joma Dabarasa.” The other witches, excluding the children, said with their hands on their hearts.

“Let the induction begin.” Maba said before she turned to face the group of girls and pointed to Katherine. “Step forward, child.” Katherine gulped a little but after turning to Logan who gave her a thumbs up she smiled and stepped towards the shrine as the Grand Witch touched down in front of her.

“State your name, little one.”

“K-Katherine…Evergreen.” Katherine said.

“Ah, the latest daughter of one of our more unique clans. Welcome. And what is your magic, Katherine?” Maba asked.

“It’s not fully developed yet but, I’m a nature witch. I can control and talk to plants.”

“Interesting. Your magic could prove useful against our enemy.” Maba said before turning to witch standing near her. “Fashion her robe at once.”

“Yes of course, Grand Witch.”

“Your themed attire will be completed momentarily. Welcome Sister Katherine Evergreen.”

“Welcome.” The other witches said before Katherine went back to join Logan and Francine, the latter of which, gave her a hug.

“You did wonderfully, Katherine. That wasn’t so hard now was it?” she smiled.

“No. You were right, Mum. Though I’m glad you came along too, Logan. You gave me confidence.” Katherine smiled at him.

“I-I didn’t do anything.” Logan rubbed his head modestly earning a giggle from Katherine and Francine. As the evening continued, the other girls were welcomed and robed by Maba until the mass came to an end with the new members garbed in robes themed after their magic. Katherine’s consisted of a moss like cloak and green robes with a thorny pattern sown onto them and cotton like trimming whilst her head now had a hat which looked like a Venus flytrap.

“How do I look, Logan?” she asked doing a little twirl on the spot.

“It’s…cute.” Logan commented as Katherine smiled back trying to cover her blushing cheeks.

“And so, with our new members initiated I give you young ones these words. Grow stronger. Let your magic flourish and improve as you age and lead our society into the next generation. But beware; the life of a witch is a dangerous one so you must be careful when you all reach adulthood. For should you ever choose to cross the threshold into the human world, you must stay safe or you will surely be lost to the DWMA. That is all for this evening. Joma Joma Dabarasa.”

“Joma Joma Dabarasa.” The other witches said including the children before they began to take their leave. But as they were heading home, Logan couldn’t’ shake the thought of the name the Grand witch had warned them of.

“I wonder what she meant by DWMA?” he thought.

XXX

The next day, Logan and Katherine returned to school and were currently in the middle of afternoon class. Their teacher, Professor Zayne was presently teaching them history. Though Logan was following the lesson well, he hadn’t been able to get the thought of the DWMA out of his head and he just felt like he had to know more about it. So he raised his hand.

“Yes, Logan?” Professor Zayne asked, looking up from his desk.

“Professor. There’s this thing I’d like to know about.”

“What is it?”

“Well you see, I was at a witch mass last night.” Logan began.

“With Kathy~.” Emily teased as a few of the students chuckled but Logan ignored them.

“And after the girls were initiated the Grand Witch warned them about something called the DWMA. She said if a witch went to live in the human world they would need to be careful otherwise the DWMA would get them. I was wondering if you could tell me what it is?” Zayne looked at his pupil and then to the other students before he sighed.

“I knew this day would come.” He muttered as he stood up. “Normally the school would wait until you’re more trained in your magic before they told you about this place’s existence, but I think it would be better for you to know what you’re up against therefore have more time to prepare yourselves.” He then walked over to the blackboard and with a piece of chalk drew three vertical eyes and next to it a round mask with three holes and three pointed ‘teeth’ at the bottom. He then pointed to the former.

“Do any of you know what this is?” he asked. The class tilted their heads as they looked at the strange drawings before one student raised their hand.

“It’s the mark of the Kishin, right?” they said.

“Correct. You all know what Kishin are.”

“They’re demons that feed on souls.” Logan answered. “Mostly humans but they’re known to eat magical souls as well.”

“Yes. Well thousands of years ago there was only one Kishin, known as Asura. He killed many witches and wizards and fed on their souls to gain strength it was only when he started eating the souls of innocent humans that he became a Kishin. A being of pure madness. The world was a dark place back then until Asura suddenly disappeared.”

“What happened to him?” Misty asked.

“I heard he was killed by the Grim Reaper.” One student said.

“No way! If anyone could’ve stopped him it must have been Eibon. No one’s more powerful than he was.” Another student debated.

“We don’t know exactly what happened to him, but not long after his defeat, the grim reaper, Death founded an academy of his own. How many of you know of the Heretic witch Arachne?” Zayne asked.

“She killed lots of our people too. It was for some sort of weapon she was creating wasn’t it?” Katherine guessed.

“You’re on the right track, Katherine. Arachne was known for killing a great number of our kind, but she used their souls to fuse common weapons with humans, thus creating a race of people who had the ability to transform into weapons. Thus she was hunted down and eliminated. But after Death defeated Asura, the academy he founded was designed to teach these human weapons as well as a group of humans who would be trained to wield them. The Death Weapon meister Academy. Their purpose was to hunt and kill any humans who would try to become new Kishin by eating innocent souls. The meister would then feed the souls of the pre-Kishin, or Kishin eggs to their weapons to make them stronger.”

“Really? Well that doesn’t seem so bad. What’s so dangerous about an academy that hunts down monsters that like to eat us?” Emily asked.

“Well it’s not that simple. Kishin’s are highly powerful and dangerous creatures. In order to fight them you would need an equally powerful weapon but in order to do that the weapons needed to be upgraded, but that would require feeding them 99 Kishin eggs and…one magical soul.” The students gasped.  “That’s right. The DWMA hunts our kind to make weapons to fight against Kishin.”

“B-But why hunt us?! We’re not evil! If the Kishins are enemies to both of us why not work together?!” Logan asked.

“Well even before Asura became a Kishin, Death fought against our kind for many years. He’s been an enemy of our kind for generations and so has his academy.”

“But why would he want to be our enemy?” Katherine asked.

“Because a lot of witches committed crimes in the human world. They let their magic overpower them and drive them to create destruction. It’s known as the pull of magic and all witches and wizards are born with it. It drives them to use their power for destruction and those who give in to its temptations will be controlled and driven by it. It’s this corruption that caused many of our people to go and do terrible things in the human realm such as experimentation, abduction or even plain destruction. It’s for these acts that Death went to war with them and as such our two races have been in never-ending conflict. It’s only because we hide ourselves in this realm that you lot have been living peacefully. But because of this war the Grand Witch and the council have been pushing individuals to fall under the pull of magic in order to stand against the DWMA. A cycle of hatred and grudges.” The class murmured amongst themselves over what they’d been told.

“So what do we do? Are we just supposed to hide from them?” Logan asked.

“I wouldn’t recommend you seek them out, Logan. I don’t know if the DWMA is as judgemental of us as we are of them but it could cost you your life if you weren’t careful. But enough about them, we should get back to class.” But Logan’s thoughts on this strange place had only grown stronger from what he’d been told, even if he didn’t like it. The DWMA surely couldn’t be that dangerous to him and his friends, could it?

XXX

After school had finished Logan went straight home and headed for his Father’s study where he found a large book case. He flicked through the titles before he found three tomes under D which were titled with the name of the academy. The young boy sat himself on the floor before he began to scan through the books, hoping there was something Professor Zayne had missed, but what he found only lowered his optimism. The pages of the books contained many passages speaking heavily of bloodshed, sacrifice and war accompanied by drawings of the gruesome events which chilled Logan to the bone and nowhere was there a single mention of alliances, truces or even individuals who had joined the Grim Reaper. There was nothing but conflict and echoed mentions of staying away from the DWMA and killing any of its members should they come after you. Logan had actually begun to tremble at this point. He felt as though he’d been living in a bubble all his life. Actually he pretty much was. The only reason him and his newly found friends were still alive was because their world was hidden by an invisible bubble that could never be found by the academy. But just how long would it last before they found a way to get through and discover them? Would he and the others be killed? Enslaved? Experimented on? And what about their parents and the rest of their families? Would they share the same fate?  It was all too scary for Logan to comprehend as he began to bite back a frightened whimper before he heard the door open which snapped him back to his senses.

“Logan?” he looked to see his father, Harold enter the room. “I didn’t know you were home, champ. What are you doing in here?”

“DAD!” Logan ran over to him and hugged him.

“Whoa! Easy there, son, I’m happy to see you too.” Harold patted his head before he noticed how much Logan was trembling before seeing his frightened face. “Good lord! Logan you look like you’ve had a brush with Death.”

“I have.” Logan replied as Harold noticed the books and looked to see what they contained before his eyes widened.

“Logan why are you looking at these old relics?! This stuff is far too adult for you!”

“I’m sorry, Dad but I just had to know if it was true?”

“I f what was?”

“That the DWMA is really that evil! The Grand witch mentioned it when I went to Katherine’s mass and then I asked at school what it was about.”

“I see…” Harold murmured. “I knew it was only a matter of time before you found out.”

“Dad? Is it really true? Am I gonna have to live out my life in fear of being hunted?! Are we just gonna keep on fighting them until we’re both dead?!” Harold pondered for a moment before he gently returned his son’s hug.

“Logan.” The boy looked up at him. “You know that with all conflicts, it’s not the witches in general who are the enemy, nor is it the humans in the DWMA. This bitter conflict of hatred is only born from a select few who have held onto grudges for their respective sides throughout the years. Just because those old farts won’t forgive the humans, doesn’t mean you or the others should have to go to hate and fear them. And the same can be said for the humans. I know there are just as many of them who don’t hate or fear us. Honestly I admire the DWMA for their loyalty to protect the world from Kishin and keep their people safe.” Logan looked at his father in astonishment.

“So…the DWMA isn’t evil?”

“It’s only evil if you make it out to be. Just as they think we’re evil. Don’t let the past control the way you want to live, Logan, because the last thing I want for my son is to live his life in fear. All me and your Mother want is for you to do that which makes you feel whole. You’re a smart and kind young mage, Logan and if you can’t stand for this conflict then maybe you should be inspired to create a future of your own; one that suits you and those that you hold dear.” Logan stood there for a moment as he allowed the words to sink in before he smiled.

“Thanks, Dad. I feel better now. Once I’ve become a full-fledged Wizard I’m gonna seek out a future without mindless conflict. One that me, Mum, my friends and family can live in. I’ll even show it to the DWMA and then they’ll see that we’re not what the past has made us out to be.”

“That’s quite a big dream, Logan.” Harold said. “Nye impossible probably.” Logan frowned but then he felt his Dad’s hand on his shoulder as he saw the man smile at him. “But then, so many things that exist today used to be impossible so why not this?”

“You really think I could do it, Dad?” Logan asked, as his father stood back up and began to leave the room but not before looking back at him over his shoulder.

“Not alone.” He smiled.

XXX

About a week passed by and soon enough Katherine was heading off to her first mass since her initiation, though to her surprise Logan said he wanted to come along again.

“Are you sure, Logan? I only asked you to come last time cause I was nervous. I appreciate you being there for me but you don’t have to.”

“No it’s not that, Katherine.  The thing is I haven’t been able to get the whole DWMA thing out of my head and I’ve been looking into it for a while now.”

“I know what you mean. I haven’t forgotten about it either. Though I wouldn’t say I’ve looked as into it as you have. Why are you so interested in it?”

“Well frankly, I don’t think the DWMA is as evil as it’s built up to be. I talked to my Dad about it after school and he told me that just as not all of us are destructive and controlled by our magic, the humans in the DWMA aren’t all discriminative to our kind. I don’t want to grow up to live in a world full of false conflict. You, me and the others don’t deserve to so I wanna find a way to stop it. That’s why I wanna tell the Grand Witch my ideals.” Katherine gasped.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea, Logan? I mean what if she sees it as sacrilege?”

“It’s not like I’m betraying the realm. I just wanna know if she wants this war to end as much as I do. Besides I’m still a kid so it’s not like she can blame me for wondering.”

“That is true.” Katherine agreed. And so, later that evening, after donning her robe, she and Logan headed off to the gathering with Francine. Upon arrival the usual greeting was given and any new members were welcomed in before Logan raised his hand.

“Grand Witch?” he spoke earning the old hag’s attention.

“Now this is surprising. It’s not often a wizard comes calling, especially one as young as you.” Maba said. “If I recall you were here last week with the young Evergreen. What is your name, child?”

“My name, is Logan Owlfeather.” Some of the withes murmured in slight surprise.

“And Owlfeather. Very interesting. And what is it you wish to ask?”

“It’s not a question exactly. You see I was intrigued when you spoke of the DWMA during my friend’s initiation. I looked more into what the DWMA was and…at first I was scared but then…I found myself rather fascinated by it. What I’m saying is…I don’t think what you and the council are doing is right.”

“Hold your tongue, boy! You should know better than to speak against the Grand-” the witch that scolded Logan was silenced by Maba raising her hand in front of her.

“Let him speak. What is it about our way that you disagree with?”

“I don’t like that we have to hide here behind this veil of magic so that the Meisters and weapons can’t find us. But how much longer until they find their way around it? All of our people will be discovered and in danger. Men, women and children. What’s more why are the council pushing witches to fall under the pull of magic to fight the humans? It’s because of that that the DWMA views us as evil cause those of us who are being controlled by our magic are giving witches, wizards and all sorcerers in general a bad name. What we should be doing is finding a way to stop the pull of magic and show the DWMA that we’re not inheritably evil. Why should we have to keep butting heads with them when we could instead be putting our minds together? Just think of what we could do if we put the past behind us and looked to the future?”

“You propose an alliance?” Maba asked.

“Yeah. I mean we’re masters of magic and the DWMA are masters of combat. What’s more we both hate Kishins so I say we should work together and create a new world. For both humans and sorcerers.” Silence lingered in the castle as Logan finished his sentence. When all of a sudden, two thirds of the witches in the room exploded into a fit of laughter. Logan choked in shock at the reaction before his face began to go red yet despite the witches laughing, Maba herself remained deathly silent, her one eye quivering slightly.

“He’s so naive!” One witch chuckled. “Just drop all those centuries of what they’ve done to us?! All the lives of our people they’ve killed to spruce up their toys?!”

“Now, now. He’s only a child. He doesn’t understand the reality of the situation.” Another witch said pitifully.

“I know we’re magic, kid but don’t go chasing fairy tales like that!” a third laughed. All the while Logan was shaking in a mixture of humiliation and discomfort as Katherine and Francine looked on sadly for what he was going through. The owl mage trembled violently before he shouted.

“FINE! Go ahead and laugh at me! I DON’T CARE!! My Mum and Dad believe in me so it’s not like I need your support! Just you wait! Someday I’m gonna show the Grim Reaper what a real sorcerer is and end the conflict between our races. You’ll see! And then I’ll be the one laughing at all of you old crones! SO THERE!!” with that he turned around and ran out of the building as Katherine tried to reach out to him but failed to do so as she saw tears of frustration in his eyes as he sped passed her.

XXX

Logan stood outside the building with his back to the wall as he sniffled. He’d felt so confident when he spoke to them but now he felt like the biggest fool in the world. Never had he been so embarrassed in his life.

“Stupid old bags! What the hell do they know?!”

“Well I must say that was quite the little speech back there.” A voice said startling Logan. He looked up to see a witch standing a couple of feet away from his right. She was wearing a hooded coat so he couldn’t’ see her face too well but he also saw she was being accompanied by a child who was hiding behind her legs: Her kin most likely; a boy.

“What do you want? Come to laugh at me some more?” Logan snorted, refusing to look at the witch who chuckled.

“On the contrary. Amusement was the last thing on mind when I heard you say those things to the old woman. You’re a smart little man, aren’t you? Logan wasn’t it?”

“That’s right.”

“Well I found what you said to be truly fascinating. We’re actually alike you and I: One in a million. Every so often there’s someone who questions the current state of this world. You aren’t the only one who desires to change the status quo.”

“You…you mean you believe me?” Logan asked astonished.

“Every word of it. I’m sick of hiding. I may be a witch but I’m just as much a woman as a human female is. So what if I can do magic tricks? I see no reason to die for that. You have the right idea wanting to show the DWMA the true nature of our kind.” Logan felt a smile coming on.

“Yeah! Just imagine what we could accomplish if we compiled our magic with their technology and combat skills? We could create a world unlike any other. One that could lead to a new era without fear of being hunted for being different. Not only that, but the threat of the Kishin would be a thing of the past if we joined forces with the DWMA and if we just stopped the pull of magic from being encouraged we wouldn’t’ be seen as evil anymore. I want to live in a future where I can be free to walk among humans without being feared or hated for who I am. I wanna show them what I’m capable of and help them discover new things.” The witch laughed, but in amazement instead of mockery.

“You truly are one of a kind.” She smiled.

“So you want the same thing as me?”

“Well I wouldn’t’ say exactly the same but I’d say we are in the same book. Just not the same page.”

“LOGAN!” the two looked to see Katherine running towards them. “Logan! I’m so sorry!” she cried.

“Katherine?”

“They were so mean to you! You opened your heart and soul and they laughed in your face. I hate them! No one treats my best friend like that!”

“It’s ok, Katherine. You shouldn’t apologise for what they did. Besides, I don’t care. I’m just happy to know that some believe in me.” He said as he smiled at the witch who winked back at him. Katherine looked at him before smiling herself.

“Then count me in.”

“Huh?”

“I believe in you, Logan. What you said was awesome and I know you can do it. So when you go and see the Grim reaper…will you take me along?  You’ll show him what a true wizard is and I’ll show him what a true witch is. That way he’ll see both sides of our people for who they really are. So…will you?” Logan stared at the nature witch before he grinned.

“Of course I will! Thanks for cheering me up, Katherine.” The girl beamed before she ran over and hugged him causing him to blush slightly. Before he smiled and returned the hug. Though they soon broke apart when they heard the witch chuckle at the cute gesture.
“Looks like you have someone to stand by your ideals. Don’t take her for granted.” She said.

“Who is she?” Katherine asked before she noticed the little boy beside her. “Hello.” The child gasped and shrank behind the woman further, just peeking at Katherine a Logan with one eye.

“Oh don’t mind him. My child’s just rather shy around other people. But anyway I should be on my way now.” The witch said as she stunned around and began to walk away towards her broom.

“W-Wait! I didn’t get your name!” Logan said causing her to stop.

“Of course! How silly of me.” She said as she turned around, pulling her hood down as she did so revealing a head of blonde, slightly spiky hair with two locks of it twisted into a plait over her chest, as she looked at him with a pair of golden eyes which soon closed as she smiled kindly at him.

“It’s Medusa, dear. And it’s been a pleasure, Logan. I hope we meet again someday and that you change this world just as I intend to do as well. Joma Joma Dabarasa. Come along, Crona.” She said before she picked up the little pink haired boy in her arms and sat atop her broom which proceeded to take off and carry her across the night sky until they’d both disappeared into the dark leaving only the giggling moon to keep the two young mages company.

To be continued…
It's Katherine's first witch mass and she's getting a case of the jitters and so asks Logan to accompany her. But little does the young wizard know that his attendance will lead to quite the discovery.
